About

One day in the winter of 2017 I thought, “Hey, I’m in the last third of my life.” My next thought was, “Hey, I want my last third to be my best third.”

I went online and registered the domain name, LastThirdBestThird.com. And, I began to dream of what I would do with this concept.

I thought it would be interesting to see what other people thought about being in the last third of their lives. That is when I developed the idea of interviewing people. So, I began to study what it would take to create a vlog series that I could post on a website.

I next began to get some audio/visual equipment to work with. And, I began to interview people.

I got some help to create a website. I got some help to create a logo.

I began to study how to use movie editing software. I discovered that cameras, audio recorders, interviewing, movie editing and such, were all hard work.

I found it very hard to learn new things after years of just doing what I already knew how to do. Beginning a major educational project was very difficult after such a long time of learning nothing new. I had learned a lot of difficult things in the early part of my adult life. But since then, I pretty much just slid along, until I created the Last Third Best Third™ (LTBT) project.

Then, I decided that telling stories would be a good addition to the LTBT project. So, I started studying storytelling, and I began writing. That was hard too.

Also, I had to develop the discipline to stick to it, and do the work that was needed. This is a unique project, and the training I needed would all have to be self-directed, and I’d have to search to discover where the education I needed would come from.

The thoughts I had of the freedom, and fun I’d have traveling, and doing interviews with interesting people, was the carrot that drew me forward.

I persevered.

The rest, as they say, is history.
